Barbados 2022

23-01-21

Already far into the New Year and my inspiration for this page is low.

I believe it is time to publish this now and communicate it with all of you.

Never too late to indulge in these wonderful memories. Especially now that snow has fallen in my backyard.

I’m experimenting with software to build slideshows from images. Here is the result of my first efforts.

Starting with our arrival at the airport and the drive to the hotel.

Here an average day on the beach

Many diversions during the day:

  • Catamaran sailing and swimming with turtles

It proves harder than I thought to capture this summer on this page. Too much to show … too much to tell. I will just jot some tell-tale images on it and hope you get the idea.

One request I had from Dan was to send him the text of the song I sang on the beach. Here it is:

Now it is November and the leaves have almost fallen and I’m sitting in my easy chair under a cosy blanket – to conserve energie 🙁 with my laptop on top of my lap and reminisce about the incredible summer with the “Nostalgia and Gratitude Celebration” in Sandals on Barbados as an undisputed Highlight. I very much need to capture this in image and text so as to be able to go back to it in my mind whenever I need a boost of spirit. And as today’s moto is to share everything with the entire world I am publishing it here hoping that it can lift spirits somewhere else as well.It all started with Chandu and Patty inviting me, for no reason at all, for something that sounded more like a fairytale than an invitation. It took me a while to realize the whole stunning reality of that email. 10 couples, all friends of them, together in an incredible all inclusive paradise on Barbados, all on their account throwing in some incredible extra’s like sailing a catamaran and swimming with the turtles, a dinner on the beach under an incredible starry, starry sky, and many more incredible surprises to make us happy. The ‘couples only’ restriction of this resort was quickly solved by asking Eva Britt along as she accompanied Ralph and me on several visits to their incredible home on Colabaugh Pond when we combined our DAC activities with the Clearwater Festival, Pete Seeger and Toshi’s wonderful Festival on the Hudson river bank, thus also befriending the other Clearwater friends who now also were invited to Barbados. Allthough not a couple in the biblical sense we could pull it off easily and confused many fellow resorters 😉
